Consuming AP (NITF) Atom Feed

Hey all,

I'm trying to use Argotic to consume the AP's news feed. The feed itself is an ATOM feed but the article details are formatted in News Industry Text Format (http://www.nitf.org/) inside each <content> tag. The problem I'm running into is that rather than providing me with the raw XML data, AtomEntry.Comment.Comment provides the text from inside the various NITF tags all concatenated together. In other words, it is ignoring all the NITF tags and only returning their contents. Could someone please suggest the best way for me to either get access to the NITF formatted content or to extend Argotic to support the NITF tags.

Thank you,
Ryan

Ryan,

You will likely need to implement a custom syndication extension that implements the News Industry Text Format (NITF) specification. The framework currently does not provide a native implementation of the NITF specification, but I will add it to the list of future features. You will want to review the Wiki documentation and framework API on syndication extensions before getting started. If you post a link to the AP feed(s) you are attempting to consume, I will try to work on a custom NITF extension you can use, time permitting.

Thank you for you help.  I'm afraid I can't provide a link to the AP NITF as it is proprietary and can only be downloaded via subscription.  The format, however, is documented with examples at http://www.nitf.org/  I have found a work around in the mean time but if Argotic could incorporate support for NITF in the future that would be great.

Thanks again,
Ryan
